This new workshop begins with the tools to complete a simple letter on the computer, including screen navigation, changing font, replacing, editing, and menu review. The series ends with the use of tables, clip art, auto text, and mail merge features. Students must have a working knowledge of computers or have attended the Basic class. Pre-registration is required. Classes are March 10, 17, 24, 31 and April 6 from 10-11:30 a.m. There is a $50 registration fee.
A Bit ‘o Blarney and Broadway
Dynamic diva Naomi Zeitlin performs a delightful entrée of Irish music along with a little dash of Broadway on March 8 at 2 p.m. Tickets are required.

PlayHooray - Baby & Me
For ages 6 months to 23 months. Pat, Laura and Molly Mouse will be on hand to give little ones their first taste of activities that will make them squeal with delight on Feb. 26 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Be prepared for lots of nursery rhymes, dancing, marching and laughter. PlayHooray - Toddler & Me
For ages 24 months to 5 years. Pat, Laura and Molly Mouse will lead this program specifically designed for toddlers on Feb. 26 from 11:15-noon. This themed program will get kids up and moving with nursery rhymes, books, music, dancing, parades and more. It is one of the most popular children’s programs. Register early in the Children’s Room.

“Preservation: of Self,
of Culture, of Earth”
The Nassau Community College Black History Month Committee will be hosting actress and model Yaya Dacosta, known for her appearance on the third season of America’s Next Top Model, as she performs “Preservation: of Self, of Culture, of Earth”
on Feb. 26 at 11:30 a.m. in the College Center Building. Since her appearance on television, DaCosta, who studied international relations and African studies at Brown University, has secured a contract with the Ford Model Agency and has gone back to acting. The Jewish Center of Island Park, 191 Long Beach Road in Island Park, will be hosting a Shabbat Across America service on March 20 at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be a not-so-traditional Shabbat fare -- Chinese food! Feb. 26: Look Into My Crystal Ball Join psychic medium Karen as she entertains with stories and explains the history of this interesting subject. She will explain Tarot Cards and do a psychic reading on some participants. There will also be a question and answer period. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Reservations are needed for this program and an additional $3 per person will be charged in addition to the $10 club dues.
March 5: The History of Ireland Part II: Dr. Mary Nita Anderson will be back for the second part of this incredible journey.
March 12: The Great Kosher Duck Scandal: Kosher Chinese food will be served at 7 pm, followed by literary expert Liz Ropers’ lecture on the Great Kosher Duck Scandal. Registration is necessary in advance and an additional $13.00 per person will be charged for food.
Purim Ball Benefit
Join the JCC on March 7 at 7 p.m. for their Purim Ball Benefit. They will honor individuals from the area who made contributions to the community. In addition to gourmet food and dancing, guests can participate in silent and live auctions. Festive attire is invited and dietary laws observed. Tickets are $75 per person. All proceeds from the event will benefit Sunrise Day Camp and the Friedberg JCC. Sunday Brunch Concert: The Borscht Belt to Broadway Starring the Warren Schein Trio
This show combines an upbeat and fantastic selection from the Great American songbook, along with favorite standards, Broadway musical favorites and a fitting tribute to Al Jolson. Add to that the shtick of some of the greatest comedy routines from the heyday of the Catskill hotel circuit and you have a day of entertainment you won’t see anywhere else. Brunch to be served.
