Officer from Oceanside arrested for DWI
An off-duty New York City police officer was arrested a short distance from the second of two car crashes he allegedly caused in Oceanside while driving his vehicle intoxicated late Saturday night, according to a Fourth Precinct police report.
John Guglielmo, 36, of 378 Wiedner Ave., Oceanside, is suspected of fleeing the scene of an accident after hitting the rear of a car stopped at a stop sign on Foxhurst Road in Oceanside.
The 18-year-old driver of the car that was hit was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital, complaining of neck and back pain.
Following the incident, police said, Guglielmo, a 12-year veteran of the 105th Precinct in Queens Village, continued onto Locust Street and then Dunkin Place, where he struck a second car as its driver was backing out from her driveway.
According to police, the woman was uninjured and declined to file additional charges.
Guglielmo was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury in the first degree and driving while intoxicated. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead.
