Summer for Seniors The Town of Hempstead's 38th annual Senior Summer Beach Program will kick off June 27 and run every weekday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Sept. 2. Film screenings Throughout June, the Long Beach Historical Society is holding film screenings every Monday night at 7 p.m. Films will include "Whirl of Life," "Blood and Sand," "Pollyanna," and "The Gold Rush." There is a suggested donation of $2.

Long Beach: The Planned Community - Showplace of Nassau County. City historian Roberta Fiore will give a slide presentation June 30 at 2 p.m. on the unique history of Long Beach from sandbar to city in 16 years (1906-22).
1776: The Road Show film version will be presented July 2 at 2 p.m. by film historian Philip Harwood. This version features much of the original Broadway cast and 35 minutes of deleted footage.
A Series on Nutrition The first part in this 3-part series is called "Ask the Nutritionist" and is scheduled for June 29 a 2 p.m. Sasha Averko, RD, CDE, CDN will be present. The session July 6 is entitled "Eating to Promote Healthy Blood Sugar," and the July 20session is entitled "Lower Cholesterol Without Medications."
Self-Esteem Interactive Workshop with Toby Bennett, C.S.W. This is a 3-part series dedicated to improving self-esteem. The first part, "Loving Yourself," is July 5 at 2 p.m.
