Pearl Weill memorial
A memorial service will be held for Pearl Weill at Temple Emmanuel, at 455 Neptune Blvd., at 7 p.m. on May 21.
Memorial Day parade
The The City of Long Beach will pay tribute to America's veterans and service men and women with the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25. This year, Korean War era veterans will serve as the Grand Marshals while City Manager Charles T. Theofan will act as Master of Ceremonies. The parade begins at Ohio Avenue and West Beech Street at 9:30 a.m. and ends at the reviewing stand on Park Avenue in front of City Hall.
Relay for Life
Long Beach's 3rd annual Relay for Life, an overnight celebration of hope in the fight against cancer, will be held on June 6 at the Long Beach Middle School field. Celebrate 100 years of red bricks
The City of Long Beach, along with the Long Beach Island Landmarks Association, will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its historical red brick district with a parade and festival on June 7 from 12 to 9 p.m. To help out and for information, call Martha Ross at 431-2140.

Day trip to Manhattan

House tours
The Long Beach Historical Society is planning its annual Heritage House Tours on June 14. Docent guided tours of the exteriors and interiors of early 1900s Long Beach Estate Houses along with several more modern day homes. The buses leave the Long Beach bus terminal every 45 minutes starting at 9 a.m. The last tour leaves terminal at 12:45 p.m. Each tour is about 90 minutes to two hours. Reservations required.
