Zoning Board meets on at 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 at City Hall.
City Council meets twice each month. The next meeting will be on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. on the 6th floor of City Hall.
Library Board meets the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is at 8 p.m. on Sept. 17.

A meeting of the civic West End Neighbors Civic Association will hold a meeting on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, located at West Beech Street and Minnesota Avenue. Breast cancer kayakathon The Long Beach Breast Cancer Coalition will hold its 9th Annual Paddle for a Cure Breast Cancer Kayakathon on Sept. 7 at Empire Kayaks, 4 Empire Boulevard, Island Park. Check in is 9 a.m. Start time is 10 a.m. Registration is $20 per person. Kayaks rentals are $15 and $20. For more information call 889-8300.
MS fundraiser The Long Beach Uniformed Fire Fighters Local 287 will be participated in a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The firefighters have a goal to reach $10,000 on Sat. Jukebox production JASA Long Beach Senior Center, located at 570 West Walnut Street, presents the Plaza Theatrical's production of GI Jukebox, a patriotic musical reminiscent of the USO offering to World War 2 troops. John Daly 1-Mile swim John Daly was a city policeman, firefighter, lifeguard and naval reservist who passed away in April 2007. The John Daly Scholarships are awarding to graduating seniors who are members of the Long Beach Patrol and will be presented following the swim on Aug. 31 on National Boulevard at 9 a.m. Applications can be obtained at the Long Beach Rec. Center, Long Beach Patrol Lifeguard Headquarters or online at longbeachny.org/parksandrecreation and must be received by Aug. 25. Lions summer social Eat, drink and be merry with a touch of business and lots of fun. Farmer's market The City of Long Beach, in partnership with Nassau County Legislator Denise Ford, will introduce the Farmer's Market at Kennedy Plaza at City Hall each Wednesday through November 26. The Market will be open from 12 to 7 p.m. with regional vendors offering fresh produce including vegetables, fruits, pies, and a variety of fish caught off Long Island waters.

Line dancing Exercise your mind and your body by attending Line Dancing With Lori led by popular instructor, Lori Shapiro. Seniors (55+) can get a great workout and have fun too. Some line dance experience is suggested for this program scheduled for Mondays at 9 a.m.
