Baldwin Public Library board meeting to be held on Wednesday, August 10 at 7 p.m. at the library.
Chamber of Commerce will not hold monthly meetings for the duration of the summer. Board members will continue to meet, however, and report to chamber members.
Fire District meetings are held at the Baldwin Fire District Headquarters, 2386 Grand Avenue, on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6 p.m.
Sanitary District No. 2 holds monthly meetings at the district offices at 2080 Grand Ave., on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 5 p.m.
Kiwanis Club meetings are held weekly at the Coral House, 70 Milburn Ave., on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Summer hours: The library will be open Mondays through Thursdays, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. , on Fridays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. through Labor Day, Sept. 5. The library will be closed on Sundays through Sept. 25.
Summer story club. Story time for children ages 3 through K will be held on Wednesdays, August 3-24, at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Please register in advance.
Summer reading club for children entering grades 1 through 6. Members make their own choices and report on it by talking about the book, writing a summary or drawing a picture. Reports are due by the end of each month. Prizes are awarded.

Riverboat ride. The Baldwin Library is hosting a summer afternoon bus trip to Connecticut on Tuesday, July 26. The event will begin with lunch on the waterfront at Dock 'n Dine and continue to step back in time with views of the Connecticut River from a seat aboard an antique steam train, followed by a paddlewheel riverboat cruise. $73 tickets are non-refundable and include lunch. The bus leaves at 8:45 a.m. from the employee parking lot. Approximate time of return is 7 p.m. For more information, call Angie Schenker.
The play's the thing. Sista Girls, Fit to Play Mentoring Program holds weekly workshops at the Rockville Center Library, 221 North Village Avenue in RVC. The program encourages girls to eat right, exercise, and become aware and involved in community service. Cruise Port Jeff. The Freeport Public Library, 144 West Merrick Rd., is sponsoring a trip to Port Jefferson on August 16. The trip will include lunch at the Port Country Club, time to stroll through the charming harborfront village and a narrated cruise of aboard a paddle wheeler. Cost is $66 per person and includes roundtrip transportation in a luxury coach, lunch, tickets for the cruise and all taxes and gratuities. Senior trip to Greenport. The All Saints' Episcopal Church, 2375 Harrison Ave., is sponsoring a summer outing to Greenport on Tuesday, July 26. The bus will leave All Saints' at 8:30 a.m. and the first stop will be Bedell Cellars Winery. Lunch at Soundview Restaurant. Free time for shopping at fresh fruit and vegetable stands and, time permitting, a visit to the Southold Historical Society. $35 per person includes everything except personal purchases. Spotlight on seniors

Library days. Thirty books are delivered monthly and dispersed every Monday and Friday of the month at 10 a.m. for those seniors in the community who have a hard time getting to and from the library.
Day trips to Lido Beach will start on Wednesday, June 29. The bus leaves the center at 10 a.m. every Wednesday during July and August. The return bus leaves Lido at 3 p.m.
At the schools
Ten-year reunion for the Baldwin High School class of 1995 on August 6. The event will be held at the Melville Marriott, 1350 Old Walt Whitman Road in Melville at 8 p.m. Tickets are $95 per person and include buffet dinner, four hours of open bar, an alumni directory and DJ.
