Summer Nursery School and Summer Playground programs
Registration for Summer Nursery School began in March for children who enter Kindergarten in Sept. 2009 and 2010. Registration for Summer Playground and Summer Rec. Programs began March 9 for children in grades 1-8 in Sept. 2009. Detailed flyers are available at the Rec.Center office. Registration for Summer Nursery School, Summer Playground and Summer Rec. programs begin March 9 and will continue Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. as long as openings exist. Summer Playground for students in grades 1-6 and Summer Rec. for students 7-8 (in Sept. 2009) offered at the Rec. Center, Hewitt and Wilson schools. Staffed by trained recreation personnel, they meet Monday-Friday 9 a.m-noon from July 1 through Aug. 6. Daily activities include athletics, arts & crafts, games and special events. Afternoon trips include a Mets game and Splish Splash for middle schoolers.

Men's and Women's Softball
The Recreation Dept. currently has Spring Softball information for men's teams. Check with the Rec. Dept. office for information for Summer Softball for men and women.
Summer Basketball League
Information for Summer Basketball Leagues for youth and adults run by the Recreation Dept.will be available mid-March. Completed rosters must be accompanied by a registration fee. Call Joe Nemeth for information.

Check out the sports schools at the Rec.: Bob Hirschfield's RVC Baseball School, Shooting Star's Lacrosse School, Game 7's Basketball School and the Rec's Ultimate Gymnastics School. Register early to secure you child's place in these very popular, professionally-run instructional programs.
2009-10 Nursery School
Designed to meet the needs of the community, the Rec center is again offering its nursery school programs that have operated continuously for 47 years. Prospective students may visit with their parents. Call the Rec. Dept. office at (516) 678-9339 to make arrangements.
Eligibility: Pre K- for those entering kindergarten in Sept. 2010. Pre-Pre K for those entering kindergarten in Sept. 2011. Class offerings: PreK I classes 9-11:20 a.m. (5 days per week) ; PreK II classes 12:15-2:45 pm. (3 days per week); Pre-Pre K I classes 9-11:30 a.m. (4 days per week): Pre-Pre K II classes 12:15 p.m.-2:45 p.m. (2 days per week). Registration is now being accepted for residents and non-residents. Openings are limited.

Intergenerational Picnic:

Special Needs Masses at
St. Agnes Cathedral
These Masses give families with special needs children the opportunity to celebrate God's presence in their lives together. Children and adults with special needs fill as many liturgy positions as possible. All are invited to take part in the Masses at 5 p.m., in the handicap accessible Lower Hall on May 30.
