Used book sale
Starting Feb. 28, the Friends of the Rockville Centre Public Library will hold its annual used book sale. A huge selection of gently-used books will be available for all ages. The sale is being held in the large meeting room in the lower level at the Library through March 14. Sale hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. All proceeds will directly benefit the Library. Famous and Infamous Trials of the 15th-20th Centuries
Historical, religious and contemporary perspectives presented by Molloy College faculty - Joan of Arc, Martin Luther, Thomas More and the Inquisition, March 1, 3 p.m. Hays Theatre, Wilbur Arts Center, Molloy College. Presented by the college's Institute for Interfaith Dialogue and the NY Council for the Humanities.
The Fortnightly Club
presents artist Marc Jasloff who will speak on the trio of genres in which he works, watercolors, oils and photography. Jasloff's work has won numerous awards. The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church on March 3.
"Women and leadership"
Molloy College will host its annual Diversity Day on March 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of Wilbur Arts Center. This year's program, "Women and Leadership: Creating a Vision of Service and Social Change," will focus on roles of leadership for women in social services professions and the challenges that come with these positions. St. Agnes Mothers' Club Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show.

Who done it?
Molloy College's Siena Women's Center will host a presentation on" A Moment on the Edge," a collection of short stories written by 25 of the best women mystery writers, on March 5, 5:30 p.m. in the Reception Room of Kellenberg Hall. Edited by Elizabeth George, the book spans the years between 1903 and 2003, and includes writers such as Antonia Fraser, Charlotte Armstrong, Sara Paretsky, Ngaio Marsh, and Shirley Jackson. Beauty and the Beast

Central Synagogue of

430 DeMott Ave.,invites the community to a free lecture on March 14 when Rabbi Capers C. Funnye Jr., Chief Rabbi of an Ethiopian Hebrew congregation in Chicago visits to present "Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel: Marching for Social Justice." These two men, a reverend and a rabbi, from very different backgrounds, forged a devoted friendship based on their civil rights activities in the 1960s. Their belief that those activities expressed fundamental values of their religions was a binding force. Rabbi Funnye will be a guest at services starting at 9:30 a.m., refreshments will be served at 10:30 and the lecture starts at 11 a.m. The community is invited to all or part of the morning's events. St Baldrick's Fundraiser
To benefit and support research and children with cancer, the community is invited to participate in the 5th annual head shaving event after the RVC St. Pat's Parade on March 21 from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the St. Agnes Parish Center.
Craft Fair and Flea Market
The John A. Anderson Recreation Center, 111 N. Oceanside Road, will be the site of the Rockville Centre Parks and Recreation Department's Annual Spring Craft Fair and Flea Market on March 22. Spring Program Registration
Starts March 9 for residents and March 23 for non-residents.Programs for toddlers through senior citizens. New programs added include Happy Piano, Whole Lotta Fun, Yoga for Kids, guitar lessons and ice skating.
Square Dancing with nationally known caller Lee Kopman takes place Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7 - 8:30 and 8:30-10 p.m. Fee: $5 per person.
Coed Cardio Workout with Nancy Codispoti on Mondays (Step Aerobics), Tuesdays (CCW) and Thursdays (CCW) from 7-8:15 p.m. Pay as you go for $5 each session.
Weight Room at the Rec. is available to adults seven days a week. The room features a treadmill, recumbent bike, rowing machine, Stairmaster and Arc Trainer, as well as free weights, Cybex machines and a bench cage. Summer Playground and Summer Rec. programs Summer Playground for students in grades 1-6 and Summer Rec. for students 7-8 (in Sept. 2009) offered at the Rec. Center, Hewitt and Wilson schools. Staffed by trained recreation personnel, they meet Monday-Friday 9 a.m-noon from July 1 through Aug. 6. Daily activities include athletics, arts & crafts, recreation games and special events. Afternoon trips include a Mets game and Splish Splash for middle schoolers.
Seasonal staff
Residents who are at least 16 may apply to work as seasonal recreation leaders this summer. Supervisors will interview qualified applicants in April. Pre-employment questionnaires are available at the Rec. Center.
Men's and Women's Softball
The Recreation Dept. currently has Spring Softball information for men's teams. Games will tentatively start March 23. Information for Summer Softball for men and women will be available in mid-March.
Summer Basketball League

2009-10 Nursery School Designed to meet the needs of the community, the Rec center is again offering its nursery school programs that have operated continuously for 47 years. Prospective students may visit with their parents. Call the Rec. Dept. office at (516) 678-9339 to make arrangements.
Eligibility: Pre K- for those entering kindergarten in Sept. 2010. Pre-Pre K for those entering kindergarten in Sept. 2011. Special Needs Masses at
St. Agnes Cathedral
These Masses are for families with children who have developmental disabilities. Families with special needs children often find it difficult to attend weekly Mass together. These Masses give these families the opportunity to celebrate God's presence in their lives together. Children and adults with special needs will be filling as many liturgy positions as possible. All are invited to take part in this special liturgy. The Masses are at 5 p.m., in the Lower Hall (which is handicapped accessible) on: Feb. 28, March 28, April 25 and May 30.
