Food Donations Needed With the coming of winter, many of us are made aware of the needy in our community. We are asking our fellow residents to donate canned and dry goods, as well as frozen turkeys or turkey coupons, to be distributed to those less fortunate. Donations can be brought to the Rec. Center Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., prior to Thanksgiving.
Operation Christmas Child The Recreation Department is collected school supplies, toiletries and small games to send to children less fortunate. All donations must be in their original packaging. Blessing of the Animals -The Feast of St. Francis of Assisi is Oct. 4.All are invited to bring their dogs and cats and any other members of God's animal kingdom to the front of St. Agnes Cathedral at 2:30 p.m. where there will be a prayer of thanks and a blessing.
Special Needs Masses at St. Agnes Cathedral have resumed. These Masses are especially for families with children who have developmental disabilities. Families with special needs children often find it difficult to attend weekly Mass together. These Masses give these families the opportunity to celebrate God's presence in their lives together. Children and adults with special needs will be filling as many liturgy positions as possible. All are invited to come and to be a part of this special liturgy. The Masses will be held at 5 p.m., in the Lower Hall which is handicapped accessible. The schedule of Masses is: Oct. 25, Nov. 22, Dec. 20, Jan. 24, Feb. 28, March 28, April 25 and May 30.

The Rockville Centre Lions Club will hold its 10th annual Rubber Duck Race and Fall Family Festival in Centennial/Mill River Park this Saturday, Oct. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. The highlight of the day is the rubber Duck race along Mill River.
Throughout the day, entertainment will be provided by: American Idol's Amanda Coluccio, Leggz Ltd. Dance, local music sensation The Turn, DJ, Shaolin Karate School, magicians, Hagen School of Irish Dance, and a reptile show. There will also be food, a hay ride, carnival games, inflatable rides, pumpkin and face painting, seasonal arts and crafts, and vendors for shopping. Admission is free. Prizes! Games! Fun for kids of all ages!
Proceeds will benefit Lions Club charities, including the Rockville Centre Community Fund, St. Agnes Outreach, RVC Confide, RVC Fire Department, the L.I. Lions Eye Bank and the Empire Speech and Hearing Clinic.

The Mayor's annual Golf and Tennis Classic and Dinner, to benefit the Rockville Centre Community Fund, will take place this coming Monday, Oct. 6, at the Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor.
