Nursery School Openings -
Summer- Pre K COMBO includes numerous physical activities to encourage large muscle development and many outdoor activities including sprinkle parties and picnics. For children entering kindergarten Sept. 2008 and 2009. Call 678-9339 for information.

Summer Playground Registration. Register for the Rec CenterÕs 54th consecutive Summer Playground Program, July 1 through Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at three sites: The Rec Center, Covert/Wilson schools and Hewitt School. The program is closed July 4. Daily activities include athletics, arts and crafts, recreational games and special events. The program is open to village residents or those who attend Rockville Centre schools in grades 1-6, effective Sept. 2008. A middle school program will also be offered this year for those in grades 7 and 8, effective Sept. 2008.
Summer Instructional Sports Schools. Flyers are available at the Rec Center for boys baseball, girls basketball, boys and girls lacrosse and girls gymnastics schools.
Spring Program Season Begins. The Recreation DepartmentÕs Spring Program schedule stared the week of March 25. There are still a few openings in choice programs. Detailed flyers are available at the Rec Center. Call 678-9338 or 9339 for further information.
Opening The Har-Tru courts adjacent to the Rec Center are tentatively scheduled to open the week of April 28. Courts are available seven days a week from 8 a.m. until dark. All players must register and pay a fee.
Summer Sports Leagues. During the summer months, the Rec Center offers Basketball Leagues for boys, girls and adults and Softball Leagues for men 18 and up and women 16 and up.
L.I.T. - Leader in Training applications became available at the Recreation Center starting Feb. 1. Applicants must live in Rockville Centre and be entering 9th grade in Sept. 2008. As there are limited openings, submit forms as soon as possible. LITs are an integral part of the Summer Playground program.
Open Gym Schedule - For grades 4 and up. Open gym is free play basketball in the main gymnasium of the Rec Center with a valid recreation card. The gym will be open for basketball every Saturday afternoon from 2 - 4:30 p.m. for grades 4 and up; evening open gym for grades 6 and up will be held on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 - 10:15 p.m.
Aerobic Exercise - Aerobics classes are offered by NancyÕs Aerobics on Mon., Tues. and Thurs. evenings from 7 p.m to 10 p.m.. Classes are on-going and can be paid for daily ($5 per person). Classes are conducted in the Rec Center gym.
Square Dancing - With nationally known caller Lee Kopman takes place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7 - 10 p.m. Fee: $5 per person. on-going.

Baseball School - The 33rd annual Baseball School is open to all boys ages 6-13. It will be conducted from June 30-July 11. Bob Hirschfield, head coach of New York Tech is the coordinator of the school which will meet at Barasch Field (S. Park Avenue, RVC). Fee is $315 per person for RVC residents. There is a $25 reduction for each additional family member
Girls Basketball School - sponsored by Game 7 and the RVC Recreation Dept. for girls in grades 3-10. Aug. 11-15 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Rec Center.
Lacrosse Programs - Shooting Stars Lacrosse for Boys (June 29, 30, July 1, 2). Shooting Stars Lacrosse for Girls (July 13, 14, 15, 16) Time: 5-9 p.m.

Introduction to Judaism. Central Synagogue of Nassau County, 430 DeMott Ave., will offer an Introduction to Judaism series beginning June 5 and running for 16 Thursday evenings. Classes will start at 7:30 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m. Session dates are: June 5, 12, 19, 26, July 3, 17, 31, August 14, 21, 28, September 4, 11, 18, 25, and October 2 and 16. The cost is $275 for individuals/couples who are members of a URJ synagogue and $375 for those non-affiliated. The fee includes all books and supplies.
The class curriculum will include, but not be limited to: Jewish history, introduction to Hebrew, Torah, Shabbat and holiday ritual, theology, Israel, and life cycle events.

Special Needs Mass. The Parish of St. Agnes Cathedral would like to welcome all to a Mass for special needs children and their families. The Masses will be held May 24 and June 28 in the lower hall of the St. Agnes Cathedral Elementary School. This will be the first of monthly ÒSpecial NeedsÓ Masses especially for families with children who have developmental difficulties. Families with these children sometimes find it difficult to attend weekly Mass together. This will give these families the opportunity to celebrate GodÕs presence in their lives together.
