The Fortnightly Club, invites all women to their next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 1:30 p.m., a special presentation will feature the very talented Fortnightly Chorus directed by Ms. Lorraine Hoskin. Their varied program will feature the gifted Lucille Villa, the well known vocalist from Rockville Centre plus a piano duet with Ms. Hoskins and her guest. The chorus was organized last year by Ms. Hoskins and invites new members regularly. The music will include a medley of George M. Cohan tunes and memorable Broadway favorites. You will be part of the entertainment as you join the Chorus later on for a sing-along. Calling all finger painters- The Rockville Centre Recreation Department will begin registration for the 2006-2007 nursery school year, starting Monday, Jan. 9 at 9 a.m. Registration will continue throughout the year, until all classes are filled. Soup and sandwich sale- The First United Methodist Church of Oceanside, Atlantic Avenue and Dawson Street, will hold a homemade soup/sandwich sale at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12. Soup, sandwich and coffee will be sold at $5 per person. Soup to take home is $2.50 a pint and $5 a quart as long as it lasts. Softball rosters available-The department currently has Spring softball information available for men's teams. The completed rosters with all fees are due by Feb. 13. Games will tentatively commence the week of March 27.


Yeeha!- Come to the center on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. and enjoy square dancing with nationally known caller Lee Kopman. the fee is $5.


Skate up a storm- On Monday, Feb. 20, the center has planned a trip for first through eighth grade students to the Long Beach Arena from 3:15 to 6:15 p.m, for ice skating fun. The fee is $12 per person and includes skate rental.


Presidents' Day relays- All kindergarten through fifth grade students are invited to join us for a morning of relay fun from 10:15 - 11:30 a.m. Fee is $3.


Fun Zone trip- The trip is for first through eighth grade students on Tuesday, Feb. 21 & includes unlimited use of rides and 35 game tokens. Bus leaves the recreation center at 12:30 p.m. and returns at 4:30 p.m. The fee is $22.


Honest Abe sports day- Kids in grades kindergarten through fifth, are invited on Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 10:30 a.m.-noon or 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m. to display your good sportsmanship at this sports activity day. Bagels and juice will be served after playtime. The fee is $7 per person.


Crafty creations- On Thursday, Feb. 23 the recreation center invites kids in kindergarten through fourth grade for a fun day of arts & crafts from 10 - 11:15 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m., the fee is $7.


Have your pie & eat it too- Grades one through six come out and celebrate George Washington's birthday by eating cherry or apple pie. Please register by Feb. 17, contest begins at 2 p.m. & there is a $2 fee.


Bowling bonanza- Grades one through eight are invited to bowl at RVC lanes. Grades one through two, noon-2:30 p.m. and grades three to eight, 12:30-3:00p.m. The fee is $12 per person.


Winter recess gym schedule- The following schedule is for open gym and game for students in grades four and up. Monday, Feb. 20 through Saturday, Feb. 25 open 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. for grades four and up, 7:30 - 10:15 p.m. grades six through 12 only.


L.I.T.- Leader in training applications will be available at the center starting March 6. Applicants must live in RVC and be entering 9th grade in September 2006. There are limited openings, submit forms as soon as possible. L.I.T.'s are an integral part of the Summer Playground program.


Roll around play days- The roll-around gymnasium set-up will be available for parents and their children ages 1-4 from 9:15-10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 through Saturday, Feb. 25. The fee is $5 per family, per session.


Middle School dances- Dances are held monthly at the Center for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Participants must live in RVC or attend school in the village. School I.D. is required for entry. February dances are as follows: Friday, Feb. 3, sixth grade only & Friday, Feb. 17, seventh grade only from 7:30 - 10 p.m.

Care Club- The Care Club at the Sandel Senior Center is a social model adult day program designed for frail elderly. It meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The well rounded program features music, crafts, exercise, current events, reminiscence, socialization, a hot nutritious lunch and recreational outings. The Care Club provides senior citizens with physical limitations an opportunity for a constructive use of leisure time in a supportive, caring environment. Think globally, act locally- Do you have sleeping bags in your attic? Millions of displaced earthquake victims in Pakistan and Kashmir are in immediate danger of freezing to death as winter approaches. The JCC, 15 is collecting new and gently used winter weight camping gear such as sleeping bags and tents, to prevent an even greater tragedy in Pakistan.
