Police said that both Vaughan and the co-defendant burglarized the convenience store on Aug. 19 and Aug. 30, 2002. "We gleaned some information from [the co-defendant] that led us to Vaughan," Detective Sgt. John King told the Herald.
Due to an impending investigation, police declined to reveal the co-defendant's name or information about his arrest for grand larceny, but did say he lives in Rockville Centre.
The Fourth and Fifth Squads jointly investigated the information provided by their informer, which resulted in their arrest of Vaughan, who was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary. "Taking lottery tickets, cigarettes and all was his routine," King said about Vaughan. "He hit the convenience store a few times."
