Owls soar into playoffs

, Lynbrook enters the Nassau Class B boys lacrosse playoffs as the No. 2 seed and is a heavy favorite to defeat No. 15 Plainedge in Friday's opening round.
The Owls only conference loss came against top-ranked Garden City and their recent victories over South Side (9-7) and Carey (10-9) featured playoff-like intensity. Ryan Hantverk, who scored 19 times over the last five games and led Lynbrook's offense all spring, had four goals against both the Cyclones and Seahawks. His goal with 28 seconds left in overtime beat Carey on May 5. Joe Vitale and Mike DeNapoli added two goals apiece to help defeat South Side four days later.
Should Coach Larry Glenz's team defeat Plainedge, which it crushed 16-5 on April 28, it would play at Hofstra or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in next week's quarterfinal round.
