They didn't get a degree, but Bellmore-Merrick residents certainly learned a great deal about how to be better parents during a recent seminar titled "Parent University -- Parents as Teachers."
The Community Wellness Council and the Community Parent Center, which are stationed at Brookside School in North Merrick, cosponsored the event. The evening featured Nancy Samalin, renowned author and parenting expert, as the keynote speaker.
Hundreds of residents turned out for the seminar, which included small-group discussions.
