Peninsula honors three

Chopra, a Hewlett resident, is being honored for the devotion, caring and clinical expertise he gives his patients and for his outstanding service to the hospital center. Chopra serves on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Medical Records Committee at the Far Rockaway Hospital.Russo, a Manhasset resident, is being honored for his commitment to the hospital's growth and his benevolence both as a philanthropist and dedicated fund-raiser for Pediatric Medicine. Russo owns and operates Russo's on the Bay in Howard Beach as well as other business establishments.Anto, a Baldwin resident, was chosen for his leadership and his continuing efforts to improve quality care at the hospital. Mercy offers support



Learning to Live With Cancer is an education and support group offered by Mercy Medical Center for patients and family members who are dealing with cancer. The program runs for six weeks. The program will be offered at the hospital located at 1000 North Village Avenue, Rockville Centre. The dates are Oct. 17, 23, and 30, and Nov. 4, 14, and 21. Franklin's health fair Nov. 2



Franklin Hospital Medical Center will be conducting numerous medical tests and health screenings during its annual "Family Health Fair" set for Saturday, Nov. 2 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Orzac Division for Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. Complimentary tests include screenings for glaucoma, skin cancer, lung capacity, blood glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure. Registration for all screenings closes at 1:30 p.m. There will also be informational displays including "Home Safety," and "Ask Your Pharmacist." The Nassau County Police Department will be on hand to promote its child ID program and the Malverne Fire Department will be offering fire safety hints.The hospital is located at 900 Franklin Ave., Valley Stream. Winthrop names new 'long term' director



Marianne Grady, RN, of Valley Stream, a 20-year veteran of the home healthcare industry, has joined Winthrop-University Hospital as the Director of the Long Term Home HealthCare Program. She is responsible for the program's day-to-day management, clinical and financial operations, and collaborates with the Department of Social Services and Nassau County to maintain patients' health in their own homes.
