The playground equipment in Memorial Park was taken down after the village was put on notice by their insurance company that the equipment was deemed unsafe for use by young children, according to the village’s website.
The notice stated that the village engineer is currently preparing plans for constructing a new state of the art playground in the park.
“Unfortunately, the village was forced to make a decision to dismantle this dangerous equipment,” the notice read. “This course of action needed to be taken due in large part to the fact that the original playground equipment was deemed unsafe for use by our young children. The age of the equipment made replacement impossible ... we would be exposing the village to a major liability claim if someone was seriously injured.”
