Astoria Federal 5,
VS Kiwanis 4
Excellent combined Pitching effort by Astoria Federal pitching staff to squeak out a Win against a very tough rival that just would not give up. Alex Donaghy started the game and was relieved in the 3rd. inning by Arun Etwaru who came in throwing Heat and did not allow a run. Anthony Orlich made his pitching debut in the 6th.inning after Arun ran out of gas. With men on 1st and 2nd, and no one out Anthony was able to pitch himself out of a jam and retire the side for a Victory. Great defensive job behind the plate by Nicky Delpriore and at shortstop by Liam Normoyle.
On the offense, excellent hitting by Chris Boody and Alex Donaghy when they both went 2 for 3 with singles and doubles to set the table for the one man Wrecking Machine Brian Reusch. Brian drove in all 5 runs with a double in the 1st, and a Homerun in the 3rd inning. Great team effort by both teams to battle all the way to the last out.
