"It is an ongoing scheme," Nassau County Det. Robert Gally said. "There is no money to draw from."
Police arrested Renee Giordani, 38, of Glenwood Avenue on Sunday, Sept. 20, and charged her with two counts of third degree grand larceny, a B felony, and two counts of second degree possession of a forged instrument, a B felony. Giordani was arraigned on Monday, Sept. 21 at Nassau County First District Court in Hempstead.
Police also arrested Michael R. Vautrin, 32, of 41st Street on Friday, Sept. 25 and charged him with third degree grand larceny and second degree possession of a forged instrument. Vautrin was arraigned on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Nassau County First District Court in Hempstead.
If convicted, both suspects face up to seven years on each charge.
During Giordani's arrest, Gally said, check printing material and two computers were seized at her office in Long Beach. Since the investigation is continuing, Gally refused comment on the seized material.
According to police, Vautrin was a co-conspirator who allegedly opened corporations and accounts in his name. He was also a co-signer on the accounts, Gally said. Though Vautrin and Giordani had a business relation, police said their personal relationship is unknown.
