According to Detective Sgt. John Giambrone of the Robbery Squad, an unidentified man entered the Roslyn Savings Bank at 1900 Hempstead Turnpike and approached a teller with a note demanding money. After he was given an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left the bank through the front door and ran.
Police said that at the time of the robbery, there were seven employees and one customer inside the bank. No injuries were reported. The man was described by witnesses as being 5 feet 11 to 6 feet tall with a medium build, having a goatee and wearing a blue sweatshirt.
Police believe the man may be responsible for 10 similar robberies in Nassau County dating back to Oct. 26. They ask anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
