Virginia man arrested on manslaughter charge following 2010 L.B. heroin death

Nassau County police nabbed a Virginia man on Friday after he allegedly injected heroin into a man in the Canals neighborhood last year and caused a fatal overdose.

Nassau County Police homicide detectives said that Robert Michalski, 40, of 220 N. Oceana Blvd. in Virginia Beach, injected the drug into a 40-year-old man in a home on Forester Street on Feb. 3 of last year. Police said that an investigation determined that the man died as a result of the fatal heroin injection. Police did not disclose the name of the victim.

Nassau County Police Department's homicide squad launched an investigation following the incident and worked on the case with the Long Beach Police Department.

On Friday, Michalski was arrested in Massapequa Park at 9:45 p.m. and charged him with second-degree manslaughter and criminal injection of a narcotic drug. He was arraigned at Long Beach City Court on Saturday, Feb. 26.
