Police rescue two people stuck in water in Oceanside

Police units rescued two people who were stuck in the water in Oceanside on Sunday.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, units responded to a radio assignment for two teens who were stranded in the marsh on their jet skis near Parsonage Cove at 7:17 p.m. Emergency services units, the Marine Bureau, Nassau County Aviation, the Oceanside Fire Department and officers from the Fourth Precinct responded to the call.

A 17-year-old male was close to the shore and was assisted by a civilian before the police arrived. Another male, also 17, was further into the marsh and was rescued by a helicopter before being transported to a safe location.

No one was hurt in the ordeal, and police have not released the names of those involved.
