Pool hall attack leaves two injured

following an assault that involved a group of men swinging broom handles, bar stools and pool cues as they ganged up on two men, police said.
Police arrested six men after they allegedly assaulted two male victims - ages 21 and 24 - following a fight that erupted inside the pool hall's bar at 2413 Grand Avenue.
Police said they have not yet determined the cause of the incident, but have charged all six men with first-degree gang assault. A Nassau County police spokesman said it was unclear if the fight was gang-related. No one answered the phone at Baldwin Billiards at press time on Monday.
The incident occurred on Saturday, April 14, at 4:40 a.m. Police said that six men assaulted the two victims with pool cues, barstools and a broom-handle. The 24-year-old victim suffered rib injuries, facial contusions and lacerations, though police said he refused medical attention.
The 21-year-old man sustained more serious injuries, including multiple stab wounds to the back and blunt trauma to the head. He was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital and admitted to ICU. Police said he was listed in stable condition on Monday.
First Precinct police arrested Christian Collada, 26, of 59 Center Ave. in Rockville Centre, and Luis Pena, 25, of 75 Graffing Place in Freeport. Also arrested were 24-year-old Anthony Rodriguez, of 59 Center Ave. in Rockville Centre, Pedro Delacruz, 19, of 532 Grant Place in Uniondale, David Banahan, 23, of 35 Fairview Ave., Oceanside, and Juan Goris, 23, of 485 front Street in Hempstead.
In addition to first degree gang assault, the men were also charged with second-degree assault, both of which are felonies. They were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday, April 15.
