A power outage near Rockville Centre disrupted the Long Island Rail Road's Babylon Branch during the Thursday morning commute, causing delays for westbound trains and the cancellation of one train.
According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, multiple westbound trains from Babylon and Wantagh to Penn Station and Grand Central Madison were delayed after the earlier power outage near Rockville Centre. One westbound train from Wantagh to Grand Central was canceled.
Based on the affected trains, delays averaged about 17 minutes, although some commuters experienced significantly longer waits. The MTA said delays across the branch reached as much as 25 to 30 minutes at the height of the disruption.
No additional information about the cause of the power outage or when normal service resumed was immediately available.
