Dr. Stephen Fox, managing partner at Central Veterinary Associates [CVA], said, "CVA is a multi-doctor, multi-location, 14-hour, 7-day veterinary practice."
CVA has five other locations in Nassau County in addition to Valley Stream. The facility in Valley Stream is "a true, 24-hour facility where there is always a doctor, nurse and staff," Fox explained. "It's been recently renovated to be a state-of-the-art facility"
Pet owners are encouraged to take a tour of the surgical, medical, dental and intensive care areas of the hospital. There is a staff of 16 licensed doctors, some specialists, 8 licensed veterinary technicians and other para-professional staff, comprising over a 100 people.
Fox states "We at CVA are dedicated in providing the optimum in pet health care. We provide a 24-hour emergency-room service, seven days a week and we do house calls 24 hours, seven days a week."
As an incentive to get the pet-owners to protect their animals from serious infectious diseases as well as pet overpopulation, CVA offers, through advertisement, low-cost vaccinations and examinations, along with spaying and neutering programs.
Examinations are $10. Vaccinations are $10 each. Surgery prices are low for both cats and dogs. Male dogs: $68. Female dogs: $85. Male cats: $27. Female cats: $42.
Central Veterinary Associates has been in existence since 1938. They are fully accredited and certified by the American Animal Hospital Association. CVA and all of its doctors and staff were the recipient of the 2001 National Humane Award for Outstanding Veterinarians and Veterinary Services, given to them by Governor Pataki from the ASPCA.
