Police officials announced last week that they were able to find a video of the two men they believe committed the crime, but have not been able to identify the suspects, but are hoping by airing the footage on local television, somebody will be able to identify the subjects. Police officials would not say how they were able to obtain the video which shows two black men sporting a dark blue and brown jacket with hoods at a convenience store on the day of the abduction at around 6:40 a.m. One of the men also is shown to have a symbol of the Wile E. Coyote character from the Looney Tunes on the back and front of his jacket.
According to police officials, the suspects detectives are seeking confronted the 75-year-old with silver handguns as he was opening the Young Israel of Woodmere and proceeded to follow him into the synagogue, where they demanded money, and he handed them his cell phone, car keys and wallet. The men then took the 75-year-old outside and forced him into the trunk of his vehicle before driving around the area for an hour, eventually abandoning the vehicle somewhere in Queens. Police said that the man discovered a remote button in his pocket that allowed him to open the trunk. According to police, he also had a spare key in his pocket, which allowed him to drive himself home and call police.
Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Police Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
