One of the world’s largest leather apparel manufacturers, Oceanside-based First Manufacturing Company, is stepping up to help some first responders in the community as the battle against Covid-19 continues.
The company, known best for producing high quality performance motorcycle rider attire and gear since 1987, designed and produced a face mask to honor fire fighters and President Ajmal Cheema donated 500 to the Oceanside Fire Department last Friday morning.
“We started a line of masks during the pandemic like many other manufacturers,” said Bob Sands, general manager and social media manager for First Manufacturing. “It’s our desire to support the local authorities and take care of people who take care of us.”
The red-lined masks come fully lined with cotton and feature adjustable elastic fasteners, and they offer full mouth and nose coverage. Masks are easily machine-washable for repeated use, which Oceanside Fire Department Chief Charles Daskalakis said is important considering how many masks they’ve gone through the past six months.
“It’s a phenomenal gesture to get us 500 masks,” Daskalakis said. “It’s a win-win situation. It’s very nice design and fire-related. It’s something that we need and reinforces to the public we are always looking to protect everyone around us as well as ourselves.”
“It is our honor to support our local fire department and this community. We are offering our reusable, adjustable and washable masks to anyone in the community that needs one free of charge.” said Jorge Espinal, general manager of First Manufacturing Co.
