Hundreds of people from across the country came to Rockville Centre last weekend to run in the village’s 39th Annual 5K, 10K and Family Fun Run.
Village streets were bustling all morning as runners from all over the tri-state area and beyond made their way through the village for the annual race.
Mineola’s Michael Mariotti won the 5K race with a time of 17:03, just seven seconds ahead of second-place Matthew Maidhof of Smithtown. Felipe Garcia of Brooklyn, N.Y., took the 10K event with a time of 36:54.
Rockville Centre’s Lauren Henkel was the top women finisher in the 5K with a time of 19:14, while fellow villager Tiffany Stack placed second among all females in the 10K, crossing the finish line in 44 minutes.
In addition to the first-place overall finishers, the village awarded trophies to the top finishers in a variety of different age groups for both men and women. All of the kids who participated in the one-mile Fun Run received trophies as well.
