It was DiMiceli’s idea that children recycle the water bottles they use during lunch. DiMiceli, along with the school's Principal Mary Keating, later called the Town of Hempstead to have recycling bins brought to the school. DiMiceli then created a recycling poster and placed it in the school's lunchroom. During a meeting with other students, DiMiceli explained to them how to recycle at school. His poster and recycling bin have been placed in the cafeteria for all to use.
