From Aug.22 to Sept. 6, walk-in registration will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cafeteria B of Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School on Fletcher Avenue. Parents should park in the Memorial lot on the corner of Hendrickson Avenue and come in the front entrance of the school.
From Sept.7 to 14
Once school has opened on Sept. 7, walk-in registration will take place from Wednesday, Sept. 7 through Wednesday, Sept. 14 during evening hours, 4:20 to 8:30 p.m., in Cafeteria B of Memorial Junior High on Fletcher Avenue.
Important registration information
Registration packets must be picked up in advance at the High School District Office at One Kent Road (rear entrance of Memorial Junior High), or in the main office of the High School District or District 13 schools. They must be completed before coming in to register.
In addition to the completed forms, parents need to bring with them: (1) three proofs of residency, two of which need to be a house deed, tax bill, income tax return or current LIPA and local water bill; (2) the original of their child's birth certificate; (3) proof of immunization and health insurance; (4) a copy of their child's school record from the previous school.
For those adults with a custodial affidavit for a student, a hearing is required prior to admittance, to determine if the custody arrangement is legitimate.
Parents are encouraged to register as soon as possible in July or August, so their children will not miss the start of school on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Children need not come to the registration; only one parent or guardian needs to attend.
Parents with questions may call residency officer Nick Luciano at (516) 872-5674.
Re-registration for incoming seventh-graders
This central registration process in the district office does not apply to incoming seventh-graders who are graduates of Valley Stream elementary Districts 13, 24 and 30. They would register directly at the school they will be attending next fall. However, they still need to bring three proofs of residency and the other information detailed above. Registration must be completed in order to receive a class schedule, due to be mailed the week of Aug. 22.

Incoming 10th-graders currently in the Valley Stream High School District also need to re-register over the summer at their home school, and to bring all the proofs of residency listed above, in order to receive their September class schedules, which are due to be mailed during the week of Aug. 22.
