During the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, neighborhoods across the country will hold parades to honor the lives of fallen heroes defending and protecting our country, including the hundreds of men and women of the armed forces and the firefighters and police officers who bravely gave their lives on September 11th.
Here in the Five Towns, the Woodmere Merchants Association invites the community to its annual Memorial Day Parade. The Hewlett Business Association, local fire and police departments, the Marine and Police Department Color Guards, the Hewlett High School band, representatives of local synagogues and churches, dignitaries, officials, Woodmere merchants, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will march down Broadway on Monday, May 27. The parade will kick-off at the Fourth Precinct Station House in Grant Park, Hewlett by 10 a.m. and finish at the Woodmere Fire Station on Irving Place.
Sy Glass, president of the Woodmere Merchants Association, invites the community to march in the parade to show support and respect, and to honor the memory of the veterans and the memory of the firefighters and police officers who lost their lives on September 11.
