Whether it was the placement of a stone monument, the dedication of a local street or the planting of a memorial tree, East Meadow residents have tried their best to ensure future generations will never forget what happened that day.
About 3,000 people perished when two hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Almost 300 of the lost were from Nassau County. Three of them lived in East Meadow.
