Residents mobilize to assist Israel

Last Thursday night, hundreds of Jews gathered at Congregation Knesseth Israel in Far Rockaway to hear about anything and everything they can do to take action against the terror and bloodshed in Israel.
Local residents met under the auspices of What did I do for Israel today?, a newly formed community organization dedicated to encourage solidarity and support for Jews living in Israel.
Everyday people are getting killed, said one of the organizers of the group, Adena Mark of Woodmere. We were all sad and frustrated and angry, and said we have to do something.
The organization grew out of weekly meetings for mothers of children attending the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach (HALB) to create a way of educating and informing people about what they can do to help the situation in Israel
