For mor than 30 years Kreeb reported on social happenings in the village and the personal accomplishments of local residents. "She was a wonderful woman who loved newspaper work. She always enjoyed writing family announcements. She was very close to the residents of the village," said Rockville Centre Mayor Eugene Murray.
Kreeb was a lifelong resident of Rockville Centre. She never married, and remained at home to care for her ailing mother. After her mother's death in the early 1970s, Kreeb joined the work force as a reporter for the News Owl.
"She will be missed. She was very witty and intelligent. She always made us laugh." said Kreeb's cousin and RVC resident Dolorita Fitzgerald.
According to her cousin, Kreeb loved writing, but also had a passion for tracing her family genealogy. "I learned so much about our family from her." said Fitzgerald.
Funeral services for Kreeb were held on Aug. 15 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockville Centre. Interment took place at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale.
