Family and Children’s Association, one of Long Island’s oldest non-profit organizations, has partnered with a number of Rockville Centre businesses to update its shelter for runaway teens. Interior decorators including Vivian Beechinor of Room Redecorators, Chris Limerick of Chris’ Designs LLC, Terri Nemschoff of Inspired Interiors and Barbara Untracht of BEU Interiors donated design consultation, window treatments and installation while Rich McDonough of McDonough Electric donated electrical support for improved lighting.   The Family and Children’s shelter, known as Nassau Haven, is located in Wantagh and is the only safe house for runaway teens between Manhattan and Montauk.  Joyce Mullen, communications director said, “Our goal is to create a warm, welcoming environment for any teen that comes for shelter or protection. We believe the right surroundings can improve peace-of-mind and reduce stress in the life of a young person in crisis. We’re very grateful to the talented designers and capable electrician who donated to help young people right here in Nassau County.”
