Rockville Centre CPA among honorees at Nassau Chamber breakfast

Gary Marks, a certified public accountant and partner in the Rockville Centre accounting firm of Shenker Zacarese & Marks LLP was honored at the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce’s 27th annual Small Businessperson of the Year and Legislative Breakfast held on Oct. 7 at the Crest Hollow Country Club.

Marks, a CPA for 25 years, has been a member of the Rockville Centre business community as a business owner for approximately 20 years. Prior to joining Shenker Zacarese & Marks, he was president of Gary Marks & Associates and held various management positions in the private sector.

Currently on the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Marks was its treasurer for 15 years. He was also the treasurer of the Garden City Jewish Center.

Marks has a B.S. in Accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs. He has had articles published in Crain’s New York Business and the Wells Fargo Small Business Advisory.

Marks lives in Hewlett and is married with two sons who are attending college at McGill University and Hofstra University.

In addition to honoring the individuals selected by each of the Nassau Council’s member chambers, speakers at the breakfast addressed issues that included property taxes, downtown redevelopment, the MTA payroll tax, utility costs, transportation, the Hub development, the cost of health insurance and government accountability.
