Arrests

A resident of Roosevelt was arrested on Oct. 13 at 9:45 a.m. and charged with bail jumping following a police investigation in Queens.

A resident of Amityville was arrested on Oct. 14 and charged with grand larceny and possession of a forged instrument after an investigation by police at the Citibank branch on Front Street.

A Brooklyn resident was arrested on Oct. 16 and charged with harassment following a police investigation at the U.S. Post Office on Merrick Road.

Burglaries

A North Forest Avenue resident reported to police on Oct. 11 that someone burglarized her home overnight while her family was asleep. The items stolen from the house included cash, electronics and a 2010 Volvo that was later located and recovered in Uniondale.

A resident of Vassar Place reported to police on Oct. 17 that someone had entered his residence between Oct. 16 and Oct. 17. The resident reported that certain items, including a lap top computer and Wii/Xbox video game consoles, were taken from his residence along with a 2008 Chevrolet that was parked in the driveway. The resident told police that the suspect entered the home through an unlocked door on the side of the house. The stolen vehicle was later located and recovered in Roosevelt.

Larcenies

A resident of Roxen Road told police on Oct. 14 that someone stole two Blackberry cell phones from his vehicle that was parked in front of the Chase Bank on N. Village Avenue on Oct. 10 at 8 p.m.

A visitor from Bellmore reported to police on Oct. 16 that she had left her pocketbook in the ladies bathroom at Cabo Restaurant on N. Park Avenue. Shortly thereafter, she recovered the pocketbook from a garbage can and discovered that its contents – credit/debit cards, camera, cell phone and miscellaneous paperwork – were stolen.

Criminal mischief

A Grand Avenue resident told police on Oct. 11 that someone slashed a tire on her vehicle while it was parked in her apartment building parking lot overnight.

Harassment

Two residents from Smith Street reported to police on Oct. 17 that three acquaintances confronted them in the parking lot of 7-11 on Merrick Road, resulting in minor injures to both victims.

Unusual incidents

A staff member from the Front Street office of Sen. Dean Skelos told police on Oct. 12 that unusual e-mails had been received.

A resident of Maple Avenue reported to police on Oct. 13 that someone had transferred $1,270 from his Western Union account without authorization.

A Lenox Road resident reported to police on Oct. 16 that someone had made an unauthorized charge of $139.99 against her TD Bank checking account. The resident also told police that the purchased item was shipped to Arizona.

Property damage

A resident of Lakeside Drive told police on Oct. 15 that a tree branch fell down and damaged her 2002 Honda.
