People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

Sabine Laventure, 32, of Barbara St., Elmont was arrested on Aug. 7 at 5:10 a.m. and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and vehicle traffic law violations after he was observed driving a 1999 Toyota on Sunrise Hwy.

Antonio Fisher, 44, of Nassau Rd., Roosevelt was arrested on Aug. 5 and charged with larceny and possession of stolen property following an investigation on N. Long Beach Rd. where he was found to be in possession of GPS devices reportedly stolen from parked vehicles on Voorhis Ave. and Knollwood Rd.

Burglaries

On Aug. 5, a resident of Dartmouth St. reported that between Aug. 3 at 8 a.m. and Aug. 5 at 3 p.m., someone removed a window screen on the side of the house. No one got into the house and there was no damage reported.

On Aug. 4, a resident of Dartmouth St. reported that between Aug. 3 at 10:15 p.m. and Aug. 4 at 7:10 a.m., someone entered his house through an unlocked rear window, removed the contents from a purse in the kitchen, and left through a rear door.

Also on Aug. 4, a resident of N. Forest Ave. reported that between Aug. 3 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 4 at 7:30 a.m., someone removed a window screen, entered her residence through an open office window, and removed a laptop computer valued at $2,000.

First Squad detectives and the Rockville Centre Police Department are investigating these incidents.

Larcenies

On Aug. 7 at 10:55 p.m., a visitor from New City, New York reported that between 9:50 p.m. and 9:55 p.m. someone damaged the passenger side front window and stole a GPS device valued at $130 from his 2006 Hyundai while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 1. A witness reported seeing a man near the car at the time of the incident, who then ran south on Merrick Rd.

On Aug. 7 at 10:45 p.m., an man from Medford, New York reported that between 7 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. someone damaged the sun roof and stole a GPS device valued at $200 from his 2004 Toyota while it was parked on Montauk Ave.

On Aug. 4 between 12:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., someone reportedly stole a 2000 Range Rover from the driveway of a Lehigh Court residence. The keys to the stolen vehicle were allegedly taken from a 2007 Volvo parked at the same location. The Range Rover was found in front of 23 Jefferson Pl., Hempstead.

On Aug. 4, someone reportedly stole a log splitter from the backyard of a Vassar Pl. residence.

Identity theft

On Aug. 6, a resident of Reid Ave. reported that between July 30 at 3:09 p.m. and July 31 at 3:47 p.m. someone made four unauthorized withdrawals totaling $1,010 from his checking account at an ATM in Georgia.

Criminal mischief

On Aug. 6, an employee of Ayhan’s Shish Kebab, located at 201 Sunrise Hwy, reported that between Aug. 5 at 11:15 p.m. and the next morning at 10:30, someone damaged a window valued at $100 on the Sunrise Hwy. side of the restaurant.

On Aug. 7, an employee of Ayhan’s Shish Kebab, located at 201 Sunrise Hwy, reported that between Aug. 6 at 11 p.m. and Aug. 7 at 10:30 a.m., someone again damaged a window valued at $100, this time on the N. Village Ave. side of the restaurant.

Investigations

On Aug. 3, a resident of Dorchester Rd. reported that her son sold jewelry to a second-hand jewelry store in New York City without her permission. Receipts were issued and there was no impropriety on the part of the pawn shop. The Nassau County Police Department’s Crimes Against Property Squad was notified.

On Aug. 3, an individual from Florida reported that a man was using a Quasar Aerospace Company account without authorization while staying at the Hampton Inn, located at 125 Merrick Rd. The Nassau County Police Department First Squad is investigating.

Juvenile

On Aug. 4, a teacher from South Side Middle School, located at 67 Hillside Ave., reported that a student punched him in the face while at school. Subsequently, a parent of another student at SSMS reported to the South Side High School administration that her son overhead the student involved in the assault say that he was bringing a gun to school the next day.

Nassau County Police Department Juvenile Aid Bureau detectives are investigating.

Found Property

On Aug. 5, a black Renthal dirt mini-bike was recovered by police personnel in the vicinity of Lincoln Ave. and S. Park Ave. The property was impounded for safekeeping.
