People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
Arrest
Thomas C. Dobbins, 59, of Cairo, New York was arrested on Aug. 14 at 2:50 a.m. at 173 Sunrise Highway and charged with assault following an alleged dispute with his female roommate.
Attempted burglary
On Aug. 9, the owner of Kathleen’s of Donegal, 8 N. Park Ave., told police that between Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. and Aug. 9 at 2:30 p.m. someone removed a hinge bolt to a basement door to the business without permission. There was no reported loss at the time of the report.
Larcenies
On Aug. 9 at 9:22 p.m., a Rugby Road resident reported that an unknown man was seen getting out of his parked SUV and fleeing on a bicycle. The passenger side window of the resident’s 2008 Toyota RAV4 was found to be damaged and a GPS valued at $100 was stolen.
On Aug. 10, a visitor from Amityville told police that someone stole his wallet from his unlocked 1999 Toyota that was parked at Bally’s, 60 Merrick Road, between 8:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.
On Aug. 11 between 1 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. someone reportedly damaged the driver side front window of a 2009 Lincoln parked in Municipal Field 11 and stole a cell phone and GPS device.
On Aug. 15, a visitor from Lafayette, New Jersey told police that someone damaged a car window and stole a GPS device valued at $300 sometime between Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m. and the next day at 4:30 p.m. while the car was parked in front of 1 Jefferson Ave.
On Aug. 12 a resident of Maple Pointe, 260 Maple Ave. reported to police that between July 22 at 1 p.m. and Aug. 12 at 6 a.m. someone stole jewelry valued at $3,200 from her apartment.
Criminal mischief
On Aug. 12 a S. Park Avenue resident told police that between Aug. 9 at noon and the next morning at 6, someone damaged his 2007 Honda vehicle while it was parked in the rear of his residence. The damaged consisted of scratches to the driver side of the vehicle.
Property damage
On Aug. 10 a visitor from St. Albans reported that his van was damaged while it was parked at 165 N. Village Ave. between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.
On Aug. 15 an employee of the Rockville Diner, 263 Sunrise Highway reported to police that someone damaged its side glass door between Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. and the next morning at 6 a.m.
On Aug. 12 a visitor from Amityville told police that sometime between 12:45 a.m. and 1 a.m. he lost his wallet near McFadden’s Bar, 210 Merrick Road.
