People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
Arrests
Jonathan Butterman, 46, of West Broadway, Long Beach, was arrested on July 26 at 11:59 a.m. and charged with driving while on a cell phone and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle on N. Centre Ave.
Greg Bala, 45, of Prospect St., Freeport was arrested on July 26 at 1:18 p.m. and charged with assault and criminal trespass at the Caldwell Banker Office at 7-A North Park Ave. after police responded to a call about a disorderly customer. After police told Bala to leave the office, police say he grabbed an officer’s throat and a struggle ensued.
Miguel A. Colon, 22, of Archer St., Freeport was arrested on July 31 near Merrick Rd. and was charged with assault following an investigation by Rockville Centre police at S. Park Ave. and Lincoln Ave.
Dwayne Marc Mills, 48, of Rose Ave., Lakeview was arrested on Aug. 1 and charged with attempted larceny, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana following an investigation by Rockville Centre police personnel at CVS Pharmacy, located at 155 Sunrise Hwy.
Americo J. Minutolo, 59, of Main St., East Rockaway was arrested on Aug. 2 at 3:45 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated, obstructing government administration, resisting arrest and traffic law violations after police watched him driving a 2002 Ford motor vehicle on Sunrise Hwy.
Farah LaMarre, 32, of Rockville Centre was arrested on July 30 and charged with shoplifting jewelry at at Kohl’s, located at 3600 Long Beach Rd. in Oceanside.
Burglary
On July 31, a Freeport resident reported that sometime between 3:02 and 3:45 a.m., merchandise was taken from Dunkin Donuts, located at 61 N. Village Ave. The store video showed two men entering and leaving the store through a basement door where the lock was missing.
Assault
On July 29 at 5:30 a.m. a 22-year-old Oceanside resident reported he was punched in the eye at 1 a.m. by an unknown person while inside McFadden’s bar, located at 210 Merrick Rd. The victim was treated at South Nassau Communities Hospital for his injury, which required stitches.
Larcenies
On July 26 at 12:02 p.m., a Maple Pointe resident reported that between 10 p.m. on June 24 and 12 p.m. on June 25, a crystal vase was stolen from her room.
On July 27 at 12:40 p.m., the store manager of Verizon Wireless, located at 265 Sunrise Hwy, reported the theft of a cell phone from the customer display area.
On July 27 at 4:50 p.m., the manager of Lexus Dealership, located at 700 Sunrise Hwy, reported the theft of two New York State license plates.
On July 29 at 3:45 p.m., the manager of CVS Pharmacy, located at 155 Sunrise Hwy, reported that a male customer attempted to steal approximately $350 worth of merchandise. The person dropped the items on the floor and fled the store after the manager confronted him.
On July 29 at 8:45 p.m., a Malverne resident reported that her pocketbook was stolen from the rear of her chair at 6:45 p.m., while she was eating at Panera Bread, located at 313 Merrick Rd.
On July 30, a Lakeview Ave. resident reported that sometime between July 29 at 10 p.m. and July 30 at 7 a.m., his 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle, valued at $5,500, was taken from his driveway.
On July 30, an Oceanside resident reported that on July 29 between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m. her cell phone, valued at $350, was stolen from her handbag while she was at TGIF, located at 716 Sunrise Hwy.
On July 30, a Michigan man told police that sometime between July 29 at 10:30 p.m. and July 30 at 5:45 a.m. his GPS, valued at $200, was stolen and the passenger side window of his 2009 Toyota was damaged while it was parked at the Best Western, located at 173 Sunrise Hwy.
On Aug. 1, a resident from North Village Ave. reported that sometime between July 30 at 10:37 p.m. and Aug. 1 at 9:30 p.m. the front passenger window of his 2006 Nissan was damaged while parked in Municipal Parking Field 20.
Identity theft
On July 26 at 1 p.m., a Dartmouth St. resident reported receiving a telephone call from a Wal-Mart representative informing him that someone was attempting to use his credit card to make a purchase online.
Property damage
On July 26 at 4:30 p.m., the storeowner of Rhea Nicholas, located at 30 N. Park Ave., reported he discovered scratches on the front window of his store on July 25.
On July 28 at 8:05 p.m., an MSBA employee reported finding damage on his vehicle while it was parked on Banks Ave. between 2 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
On July 29 at 2:30 a.m., police personnel discovered the front window glass was broken at the Heavenly Touch Nail Salon, located at 226 Merrick Rd.
On Aug. 2, a resident of Muirfield Rd. reported that she had locked herself out of her home with her children inside. The Rockville Centre Fire Dept. responded to the call and gained entry to the home through a rear door, which resulted in damage.
Harassment
On July 27 at 2:30 p.m., an employee at Lakeview Auto Sales, located at 650 Sunrise Hwy, reported an unknown person sent his supervisor a box containing sexually explicit material with a note asking
On Aug.1 at 1:55 a.m., an North Bellmore resident reported that she was harassed by an acquaintance while at Kasey’s, located at 23 North Park Ave.
On Aug. 1 at 1:55 a.m., an resident of Hempstead Ave. reported that she was being harassed by telephone calls from an unknown person who claimed to know her husband.
Alcohol investigations
Jacob B. Vannostrand, 30, of West Penn St., Long Beach, was issued an appearance ticket on July 30 charging him with selling alcohol to a minor following an investigation by Rockville Centre police at Fat Heads, located at 140 A. North Village Ave.
Suresh Kumar Patel, 52, of S. Long Beach Rd. was issued an appearance ticket on July 30 charging him with selling alcohol to a minor following an investigation by Rockville Centre police personnel at Teamo, located at 600 Merrick Rd.
Chaitali J. Patel, 26, of Windsor Ave., was issued an appearance ticket on July 30 charging him with selling alcohol to a minor following an investigation by Rockville Centre police personnel at North Village Convenience, located at 63 North Village Ave.
Criminal mischief
On July 30, a resident from Muirfield Rd. reported that between July 29 at 12 p.m. and July 30 at 9:30 a.m. the front passenger window of her 2004 Toyota was damaged while parked in the St. Agnes Cathedral parking field on Quealy Pl.
On July 31, an individual from First Church of Christ Scientist, located at 285 Morris Ave., reported that a storm window, valued at $200, was damaged.
