People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
Arrests
Naeem A. Bryan, 30, of Magnolia Ave., Mount Vernon, was arrested on July 19 at 11:20 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile device and speeding on Merrick Rd. Bryan was also found to have an open warrant from New York City for possession of marijuana.
Devon Carty, 19, of Clarendon Rd., Brooklyn, was arrested on July 21 at 6:35 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a weapon relating to an open warrant from New York City. His arrest came after Rockville Centre Police Department’s Anti-Crime officers say they saw him acting suspiciously near the Taco Bell Restaurant, located at 570 Sunrise Hwy.
Lashaun L.D. Shepard, 26, of Baldwin Rd., Hemsptead, was arrested on July 23 at 9:09 p.m. and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Merrick Rd.
Allison M. Cienski, 26, of Olive Pl., North Bellmore, was arrested on July 25 at 12:36 a.m. and charged with obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct after police said she interfered with officers who were conducting an investigation at El Mariachi, located at 213 Sunrise Hwy.
Michael J. Holand, 27, of Lido Blvd., Lido Beach, was arrested on July 26 at 2:07 a.m. and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after police say they observed him driving a 1993 Chevrolet on Sunrise Hwy. The defendant was also charged with possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle with a loud exhaust system.
Assault
On July 23 at 12:19 a.m., a North Valley Stream resident reported he had been in a fight with an acquaintance at 200 Merrick Rd. and he received an injury to his right eye that required medical attention.
Robbery
On July 24 at 9 p.m., a Rockville Centre resident reported that as he was walking in Municipal Parking Field 1, behind Kasey’s, at 8 p.m., he was confronted by three men who demanded $20. No weapons were displayed.
Forgery
On July 20 at 6:40 p.m., an employee of Dunkin Donuts, located at 63 N. Village Ave., reported that a man tried to purchase merchandise with a counterfeit $100 bill.
Larcenies
On July 19 at 2:23 p.m., the store manager of Verizon Wireless, located at 265 Sunrise Hwy, reported the theft of a cell phone from the customer display area.
On July 21 at 6:30 p.m., a shopper at HomeGoods, located at 152 N. Village Ave., reported that her pocketbook was stolen while she was in the store.
On July 22 at 10:09 a.m., the owner of Petrone Stone, Inc.,45 S. Centre Ave., reported that between July 10 and July 20, someone stole scaffolding equipment valued at $17,150 from the rear yard of his business.
On July 23 at 4 p.m., a guest at the Hampton Inn, located at 125 Merrick Rd., reported the theft of jewelry valued at $1,000. The theft occurred between 9:30 a.m. on July 21 and 9:30 a.m. on July 22.
On July 23 at 5:35 p.m., an employee at Jenny’s Stationery, 197 Brower Ave., reported the theft of newspapers from the front of the store during the early morning hours.
On July 24 at 2 a.m., an Oceanside resident reported the theft of her pocketbook from the bar at McFadden’s, 210 Merrick Rd.
Criminal Mischief
On July 20 at 11:40 p.m., a Lindenhurst resident reported seeing an acquaintance damage two tires on her vehicle while it was parked in the lot of Mercy Medical Center, located at 1000 N. Village Ave.
Village code violation
On July 23 at 3:14 p.m., police, fire, and Building Department personnel responded to 107 N. Forest Ave. to assist the RVC Electric Dept. An investigation revealed unsafe and unauthorized electrical work. Power to the building was shut off by the Electric Department and the building owner was issued a summons by an RVC Code Enforcement Officer. The case will be referred to the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office for possible criminal charges.
