People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
Arrests
A 46-year-old man from Windemere Place was arrested on Nov. 15 and charged with disorderly conduct while in front of his residence.
A 21-year-old Freeport man was arrested on Nov. 19 and charged with assault following a police investigation near 60 N. Park Avenue.
A 20-year-old Freeport man was arrested on Nov. 19 and charged with assault after a police investigation near 60 N. Park Avenue.
A 42-year-old man from Brooklyn was arrested on Nov. 19 and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument after police officers determined that he had passed counterfeit currency at Croxley’s Ale House.
A 17-year-old from Bellmore was arrested on Nov. 19 and charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance after a narcotics investigation by Rockville Centre Police anti-crime personnel in Municipal Parking Field 8.
A 24-year-old man from St. Marks Place was arrested on Nov. 21 and charged with disorderly conduct following a police investigation in which it was determined that he had caused public alarm by yelling, screaming and exposing himself near N. Park Avenue.
Burglaries
A North Forest Avenue resident told police on Nov. 21 that someone entered her residence through an unlocked side door and stole $40 from her purse that had been left on the kitchen table.
A resident of Locust Avenue reported to police on Nov. 21 that someone entered his unlocked car that was parked in the driveway of his house and then later entered his residence through an unlocked window to steal $100 from a wallet and purse that were both left on the kitchen counter. There were no reported losses from the resident’s car.
A Hempstead Avenue resident reported to police on Nov. 21 that someone entered an unlocked car that was parked in the driveway of his house and then later entered his residence through an unlocked door. There were no reported losses from the car or the residence.
Attempted burglaries
A resident of Locust Avenue told police on Nov. 21 that someone entered his unlocked car that was parked in the driveway of his house and then attempted to enter the residence through the front and rear doors. No money was stolen from the house, but the perpetrator did steal $10 and a set of keys from the car.
A Southard Avenue resident reported to police on Nov. 21 that someone entered her unlocked car that was parked in the driveway of her residence and then attempted to enter the house through the rear door. A set of keys that had been removed from the vehicle was later recovered.
A resident of Locust Avenue told police on Nov. 21 that someone attempted to enter the house through its rear door. There was no reported loss or damage.
A North Forest Avenue resident reported to police on Nov. 21 that someone attempted to enter the house through the side and rear doors. There was visible damage to the doors and frames where entry was attempted.
Graffiti
An owner of Star Cleaners on Merrick Road reported to police on Nov. 12 that someone damaged the building wall and dumpster in the rear by spray painting graffiti the previous day.
Property damage
A visitor from Brooklyn reported to police on Nov. 9 that someone damaged the tail light of her 2005 Volkswagen while it was parked at Molloy College.
A visitor from Garden City told police on Nov. 12 that someone damaged his 2010 Infiniti while it was parked on N. Village Avenue.
Unusual incidents
A resident of Merrick Road told police on Nov. 12 that he had transferred $3,140 at to purchase a car listed on Craig’s List and that he has been unable to contact the recipient of the money – or take possession of the vehicle – since the transaction was completed on Nov. 5.
The principal of Riverside Elementary School reported to police on Nov. 14 that someone caused fire residue that was discovered on the south side of the school.
Identity theft
A resident of Wellesley Road told police on Nov. 12 that someone added an authorized buyer to her Bloomingdale’s Visa and Macy’s Visa, resulting in unauthorized purchases of $2,842.71 and $2,418.90.
