Rockville Centre crime watch for Nov. 11, 2010

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

A 26-year-old Garden City man was arrested on Oct. 30 and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation and VTL violations after he was observed operating a 1988 Lincoln at South Park Avenue.

A 27-year-old Lynbrook man was arrested on Oct. 31 and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after a police investigation at Merrick Road and N. Long Beach Road.

A 28-year-old Freeport manwas arrested on Oct. 31 and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance following an investigation by police at Merrick Road and N. Long Beach Road.

A 25-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested on Nov. 1 and charged with sexual abuse following a police investigation at the Hampton Inn on Merrick Road.

A 17-year-old N. Forest Avenue teen was arrested on Nov. 1 and charged with criminal mischief following a police investigation on Burtis Avenue.

Prostitution arrests

The following individuals were arrested in an ongoing prostitution sting that is being conducted jointly between Rockville Centre police and the Nassau County Vice Squad with the cooperation of a local hotel. These arrests were made after officers contacted the women who advertised for meetings in the Rockville Centre area. Police say they are working to stop the women — who are lured by good money — and their pimps, from coming into the village.

Alicia Mirsalim, 22, of Queens was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with prostitution after a police investigation on Sunrise Highway.

Lana Cumakova, 30, of Manhattan was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with prostitution following an investigation by police on Sunrise Highway.

Wendy Y. Lopez, 30, of Jersey City was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with prostitution after an investigation by police on Sunrise Highway.

Layia R. Baron, 20, of Connecticut was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with prostitution following a police investigation on Sunrise Highway.
