Arrests

A 25-year-old Oceanside resident was arrested on May 31 and charged with driving while impaired and reckless assault after allegedly striking a bicyclist at N. Long Beach and Oceanside roads. The bicyclist was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A 47-year-old resident of Brentwood was arrested on May 31 and charged with driving while intoxicated and consuming alcohol after police said they saw him drinking from an open container while driving eastbound on Sunrise Highway.

A 32-year-old Valley Stream resident was arrested on June 2 and charged with petty larceny after police said she was observed while shoplifting at CVS Pharmacy on Sunrise Highway.

A 33-year-old village resident was arrested on June 3 and charged with criminal mischief following an alleged disturbance inside his home.

A 38-year-old village resident was arrested on June 3 and charged with criminal mischief following an alleged disturbance inside her home.

Criminal mischief

A Baldwin resident told police on May 25 that someone broke a side window to her 2002 Toyota while she was inside Bally Total Fitness on Merrick Road.

A Cedarhurst resident reported to police on May 25 that someone broke a side window of his 2010 Toyota while he was inside Bally Total Fitness.

On June 6, an Oceanside resident told police that someone let air out of two tires and scratched the hood of his 2003 Honda while he was working inside TGI Fridays on Sunrise Highway.

Leaving the scene of an auto accident

On June 2, two drivers reported being involved in a collision with a third vehicle that left the scene. The accident occurred at Peninsula Boulevard and Lakeview Avenue. One of the drivers sustained a minor injury.

On June 3, a 13-year-old Oceanside resident was struck by a Nissan that left the scene at the entrance to Municipal Parking Field 8 near S. Park Avenue. The victim was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital where he was admitted with non-life threatening injuries.

A Hempstead resident reported on June 4 that his car was damaged by another car that left the scene while it was in Municipal Parking Field 3 overnight.
