Arrests
A 54-year-old Rockville Centre resident was arrested on May 23 and charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an auto accident after allegedly striking an occupied car on Front Street and then leaving the scene. No injuries were reported.
A 38-year-old resident of Hempstead was arrested on May 27 and charged with assault of a police officer following a disturbance on N. Centre Avenue. He was also found to have an open Long Beach warrant for disorderly conduct.
A 36-year-old resident of Hempstead was arrested on May 27 and charged with trespassing following a fight at Molloy College.
A 19-year-old Hempstead resident was arrested on May 27 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation and impeding traffic on the Merrick Road ramp to Sunrise Highway. He was also found to have an open arrest warrant for criminal impersonation.
A 36-year-old Rockville Centre resident was arrested on May 28 and charged with two counts of disorderly conduct after a disturbance in Old Mill Court.
Larcenies
A Valley Stream resident told police on May 23 that someone stole his wallet from a locker at the Dolphin Fitness Center on Sunrise Highway. The victim said he found his wallet a short time afterwards in a garbage can on Front Street. His license, two debit cards and $400 were missing. An attempt to use the debit card was later made at the Jamaica LIRR station in Queens at 7:10 p.m.
A Molloy College instructor reported to police on May 25 that his laptop was stolen from a classroom.
A Valley Stream resident told police on May 25 that someone broke a side window to his 2010 Nissan and removed a pair of sunglasses while he was inside Bally Total Fitness on Merrick Road.
A S. Centre Avenue resident reported to police on May 27 that someone stole her son’s bicycle from their driveway.
Appearance ticket
A 42-year-old Lynbrook resident received an appearance ticket on May 27 charging him with selling alcohol to a person under 21 following an investigation at the North Park Avenue Deli and Grocery. The ticket is returnable to the First District Court in Hempstead.
Leaving the scene of an auto accident
An Elmont resident reported to police on May 26 that someone damaged his 2008 Chevy after colliding with it near Sunrise Highway and North Marion Place. The alleged perpetrator reportedly drove away from the scene after the accident.
On the same day, a Rockville Centre resident told police that someone damaged her 2003 Mercedes and then left the scene.
On May 28, a Rockville Centre resident reported being involved in an auto accident with two other vehicles on Sunrise Highway. One vehicle reportedly left the scene.
People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
