Arrests
A 47-year-old resident of Oceanside was arrested on May 5 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and failing to display a front license plate while driving a 2010 Volkswagen east on Sunrise Highway.
A 36-year-old resident of Lynbrook was arrested on May 5 and charged with two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation and a separate count of unlicensed operation after being involved in a property damage-only auto accident on Sunrise Highway.
A 23-year-old resident of Rockville Centre was arrested on May 6 and charged with disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of a controlled substance during a disturbance in Municipal Parking Field 7.
A 16-year-old from Freeport was arrested on May 6 and charged with disorderly conduct after he was observed obstructing traffic on N. Park Avenue.
A 17-year-old from N. Park Avenue was arrested on May 7 and charged with obstructing governmental administration in Municipal Parking Field 8.
An 18-year-old from N. Park Avenue was arrested on May 7 and charged with obstructing governmental administration in Municipal Parking Field 8.
A 16-year-old from Old Mill Court was arrested on May 7 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct during a disturbance on Merrick Road.
A 16-year-old from Rockville Centre was arrested on May 7 and charged with disorderly conduct during a disturbance on Merrick Road.
A 24-year-old Rockville Centre resident was arrested on Merrick Road on May 8 after he was found to be the subject of an open bench warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
A 22-year-old of Baldwin was arrested on May 8 and charged with criminal mischief after damaging a 2003 Nissan during a disturbance that occurred in Municipal Parking Field 1.
Robbery
A cook at Chichenitza Restaurant and Bar, 212 Merrick Rd., heard banging on the rear basement door on May 10 at 5:30 a.m. When he opened the door he was confronted by a man who punched him in the face and chest several times and stole $185 cash from his pocket. The victim received bruises and cuts, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
During the subsequent investigation at Chichenitza, officials observed multiple building code violations and building department inspectors were called to investigate. As a result, the restaurant and bar were both closed, but have since reopened. The investigations of the robbery and the building code violations are continuing.
Assault
A Cedarhurst resident reported to police on May 6 that three men assaulted him and his friends at Merrick Road and N. Park Avenue.
Criminal mischief
A storeowner on S. Village Avenue told police on May 6 that someone broke a front window by throwing a garbage pail into it.
A Cedar Avenue resident reported to police on May 7 that someone damaged the rear window of his 2005 Chrysler minivan while it was parked in the street between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Graffiti
On May 2, graffiti was observed on the bricks of the Village of Rockville Centre sign next to the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway.
On May 5, graffiti was seen on stop signs and a light pole in the vicinity of Raymond Street and Southard Avenue.
