People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

Benjamin Polo, 23, of 90th Avenue, Jamaica, was arrested on July 6 and charged with vehicle traffic law violations while operating what police said was an unregistered motor vehicle on Sunrise Highway and for having an open Connecticut warrant for identity theft. The defendant was held by Nassau County police for extradition to Greenwich, Conn.

Latoya Hunter, 26, of Old Mill Court, was arrested at 11:40 p.m. on July 7 near her home and charged with harassment as a result of a domestic incident.

Cathy Mitchell, 36, of Old Mill Court was arrested at 10 p.m. near Morgan Days North by the Rockville Centre Anti-Crime Unit following an investigation and charged with disorderly conduct.

Abraham Katz, 34, of Brooklyn, was arrested on July 8 at 8:39 p.m. and charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident that occurred on Lexington Street.

Forgery

On July 8 a Hewlett Harbor resident told police that someone created forged checks that were cashed for a total of $17,560 against his Merrick Road law firm's checking account.

Larcenies

On July 6, a N. Long Beach Road resident reported to police that someone stole four tires and rims between 12:30 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. from his 2008 Honda that was parked in his driveway.

At 8:10 a.m on July 9, a DeMott Avenue resident told police that his 2008 Cadillac was stolen from his driveway overnight. The vehicle was found in North Lawrence.

On July 9 at 11:45 p.m., a Laurelton resident reported to police that someone cut the lock on his locker in Bally's at 60 Merrick Road and took his wallet.

At 11:45 a.m. on July 10, Merrick Road resident told police that someone stole her wallet from her car while it was parked in the driveway overnight.

On July 10 at 9 p.m. a Little Neck resident reported that someone damaged his car window and removed a GPS unit while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 12 between 8 p.m and 8:35 p.m.

Criminal mischief

On July 6 an Astoria resident reported that a patient from Mercy Medical Center pushed over his parked motorcycle in the parking lot at 2000 N. Village Ave.

On July 8 an employee of Village Luggage, 243 Merrick Road told police that someone damaged a window at the store at approximately 3 a.m.

Also on July 8, the owner of Mr. Miceli Restaurant, 19 N. Park Ave., reported that someone damaged a store window valued at approximately $500.
