Arrests
Kenneth V. Hock, Jr. , 45, of Windermere Place was arrested on March 3 and charged with driving while intoxicated and other vehicle traffic law violations after police say they saw him driving on N. Park Avenue and Merrick Road.
Albert W. Torain, 57, of Harold Avenue, Hempstead, was arrested on March 6 and charged with driving while intoxicated, four counts of assault, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing from a police officer, reckless endangerment and additional vehicle traffic law violations after police say they saw him driving his 2007 Chrysler car on Dover Court.
Scott R. Deutsch, 54, of Willets Court was arrested on March 6 and charged with burglary and menacing following an incident that took place at a Salem Road residence.
Matthew Pomponio, 24, of Cornelius Place, Massapequa, was arrested on March 5 and charged with assault and possession of a dangerous weapon following what police said was a disturbance at a N. Park Avenue bar.
Burglaries and attempted burglary
On March 6, a Brower Avenue resident reported to police that a burglary occurred at his home at 3:50 a.m. It was discovered when the burglar alarm was activated and a key that was removed from a vehicle parked in the driveway was found to be left in the rear patio door. The vehicles parked in the driveway were found to have been ransacked, and $70 and two checks made out to the female resident of the home were stolen.
That same morning, a William Street resident told police that between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m., someone entered his residence through an unlocked side door and stole approximately $140 from a purse in the kitchen.
Another William Street resident resident also reported to police that on that same morning, someone got into his house through a locked side door sometime between 11 p.m. on Friday night and 8 a.m. Saturday morning, taking items from the kitchen.
