Rockville Centre Crime Watch March 22, 2012

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

A 50-year-old man from Lawson Avenue, Rockville Centre was arrested on March 5 and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana after an investigation at Municipal Parking Field 26.

A 22-year-old man from Washington Street, Hempstead was arrested on March 6 and charged with criminal possession of stolen property after an investigation at CVS Pharmacy, located at 598 Merrick Road.

The same day, a 23-year-old man from Pacific Street, Brooklyn was also arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property at CVS.

A 22-year-old woman from 198th Street, Hollis was arrested on March 10 and charged with driving while intoxicated after police investigated an accident at the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Broadway.

The next day,a 23-year-old man from Arlington Street, Mineola was arrested and charged with criminal mischief after a police investigation of a broken window at the Starbucks located at 21 N. Park Ave.

A 31-year-old man from Conlon Road, Roosevelt was arrested on March 13 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and VTL violations, as well as a bench warrant for aggravated unlicensed operation, after an investigation by police at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and N. Park Avenue.

Burglaries

A resident of Marvin Avenue, Rockville Centre reported on March 6 that someone attempted to get into her house.

The same day, a resident of Princeton Road reported that someone stole $50 from her vehicle while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 2.

A resident of Hempstead Avenue reported on March 10 that someone stole a Thule wind screen, valued at $50, from his 2002 Subaru while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 2.

The same day, an employee of the United States Postal Service, located at Merrick Road, reported that someone stole a U.S. push cart from the vicinity of 195 N. Village Ave.

A resident of N. Marion Place, Rockville Centre, reported on March 13 that someone damaged the rear door and door lock to her home. No one got in, and there was no reported loss at the time of the report.

The same day, a resident of Helena, Alabama reported that someone stole his 2012 BMW rental car from the Hampton Inn, located at 125 Merrick Road.

The following day, a resident of Valley Stream reported that someone stole her mobile phone while she was inside a doctor’s office, located in the medical building at 2000 N. Village Ave.

Graffiti

An employee of the storage facility located at 250 Maple Ave., reported on March 8 that someone spray painted graffiti on the exterior wall on the rear of his building.

An employee of North Park Deli, located at 149 N. park Ave, reported on March 14 that someone spray painted graffiti on the exterior wall of his business.

Police personnel identified graffiti the next day that had been placed on a dumpster located on the east side of 34 Maple Ave.

The same day, police personnel identified graffiti that had been placed on a parking sign located at the Rockville Centre Library at 221 N. Village Ave.

Property damage

A resident of Kenneth Avenue, Baldwin reported on March 11 that his 2007 Ford was damaged while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 1.

A resident of McDermott Road, South Hempstead reported on March 13 that his 2006 Toyota was damaged while it was parked in the King Kullen parking lot, located at 127 Sunrise Highway.

Lost property

A resident of Merrick Road, Rockville Centre reported on March 7 that his Kosovo identification card had been lost inside his apartment.

The same day, a resident of Amityville reported that his driver license and U.S. Social Security card were lost in the vicinity of Lexus of Rockville Centre, located at 700 Sunrise Highway.

A resident of N. Long Beach Avenue, Freeport, reported on March 15 that he lost his wallet and its contents while he was working at Dunkin Donuts at 574 Merrick Road.
