People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests           

A 17-year-old teen from Salem Road, Rockville Centre was arrested on Feb. 24 and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, assault and criminal mischief after an investigation at his residence.

A 38-year-old man from E. Broadway, Long Beach was arrested the next day and charged with disorderly conduct after an investigation at N. Park Avenue.

A 28-year-old man from Franklin Avenue, Hewlett was arrested on Feb. 26 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and VTL violations after an investigation on Sunrise Highway.

The same day, a 42-year-old man from Martin Luther King Drive, Hempstead was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and VTL violations. Brown had an open bench warrant from the City of Glen Cove as well.

Larcenies

A resident of Oceanside reported on Feb. 20 that someone stole $2.50 and ten compact discs from her car while it was parked at Front Street and N. Park Avenue.

A resident of S. Centre Avenue, Rockville Centre reported the next day that someone stole assorted jewelry, valued at $39,580 from her residence.

A resident of Hempstead Avenue, Rockville Centre reported on Feb. 23 that someone stole headlight wipers valued at $450, an automobile grill valued at $150, an iPod Nano valued at $150 and $100 in U.S. currency from his 2009 BMW while it was parked in his driveway.

A resident of Hempstead reported the same day that someone deposited a check for $2,621 in her savings account and withdrew $5,000 from the same account without authorization.

The same day, a resident of Rockaway Avenue, Rockville Centre reported that she wired $190 to someone in India through Western Union regarding a loan request under false pretenses.

A resident of East Rockaway reported on Feb. 26 that someone stole a wallet from her sister’s car while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 16.

 

Criminal mischief

A resident of William Street, Rockville Centre reported on Feb. 21 that his 2005 Lexus was damaged while parked in Municipal Parking Field 2.

 

Graffiti

A resident reported on Feb. 19 that there was graffiti located on a billboard on Oceanside Road, north of Sunrise Highway.

A resident of Merrick Road, Rockville Centre reported on Feb. 20 that someone laced graffiti on the way of his law office without authorization.

A member of the Rockville Centre Fire Department reported on the same day that someone placed graffiti on the wall of the firehouse located at 39 S. Centre Ave without authorization.

On Feb. 22, police identified graffiti placed on a street sign located at the intersection of N. Village Avenue and Lexington Street.

The same day, police identified graffiti placed on a Village of Rockville Centre dumpster located at 39 South Centre. Ave.

Police identified graffiti placed on a stop sign located at Harvard Ave and Dorchester Road on the same day.

 

ID theft

A resident of Lincoln Court, Rockville Centre reported on Feb. 23 that someone made unauthorized transactions totaling $250 on his Chase credit card account without authorization.

A resident of Princeton Street, Rockville Centre reported that someone opened a line of credit with his Pay Pal Mastercard and made unauthorized transactions totaling $864.11.

Property damage

A resident of Hilton Avenue, Hempstead reported on Feb. 14 that her 2004 Ford was damaged while parked in Municipal Parking Field 26.

Fire

A resident of Voorhis Avenue, Rockville Centre reported on Feb. 14 that there was a fire in the basement of her residence. Rockville Centre Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire, which resulted in extensive damage to the basement of the home.

Harassment

A resident of Merrick Road, Rockville Centre reported that someone left a note on her car while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 8. The resident complained the note caused annoyance and alarm.
