Employees of the Long Island Outdoorsman on Sunrise Highway called Rockville Centre police Monday evening after they refused to sell pellets, gunpowder and a canister to a Brooklyn man. When officers briefly stopped and questioned him along Sunrise Highway as he was driving west, he told them he wanted the materials to build model rockets. After running a background check, police did not press any charges.
Arrests
A 24-year-old Freeport was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with trespassing following a police investigation near Burtis Avenue.
A 19-year-old Freeport teen was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and trespassing following an investigation by police near Burtis Avenue.
A 21-year old Freeport man was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with assault and trespassing after a police investigation near Burtis Avenue.
A 19-year-old teen Merrick was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and trespassing following an investigation by police personnel near Burtis Avenue.
A 16-year-old Freeport teen was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and trespassing after a police investigation near Burtis Avenue.
A 28-year-old Hempstead man was arrested on Nov. 6 and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation and VTL violations after he was observed driving a 2005 Infiniti on Shepherd Street and N. Long Beach Road.
A 30-year old man from Jackson Heights was arrested on Nov. 7 and charged with driving while intoxicated and VTL violations following an investigation by police personnel at Sunrise Highway and Ocean Avenue.
Assault
A visitor from Cambria Heights reported to police on Nov. 6 that her boyfriend assaulted her in the face while they were in the parking lot of the TGIF restaurant on Sunrise
Highway.
Larcenies
An employee of a business at 265 Sunrise Highway reported to police on Nov. 3 that someone stole a laptop from a desk at that business location.
A visitor from Lynbrook told police on Nov. 4 that someone damaged the window of his 2010 Cadillac and stole other personal property that included his wallet while his car was parked in Municipal Parking Field 3.
A Bedford Avenue resident reported to police on Nov. 4 that someone entered his unlocked car and stole personal property that included his wallet while the car was parked in Municipal Parking Field 8.
A resident of Jefferson Avenue told police on Nov. 5 that someone removed a cell phone from his jacket while at the Recreation Center on Oceanside Road.
A visitor from East Rockaway reported to police on Nov. 6 that someone stole a pocketbook from her unlocked 2008 Honda while it was parked at the LIRR station.
Criminal mischief
A visitor of Long Beach reported to police on Nov. 4 that someone damaged the window of his 2009 Audi while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 3.
Harassment complaints
A Hanover Place resident reported to police on Nov. 5 that someone subscribed to 18 magazines using personal information without authorization.
An employee of Dunns River Bar on N. Park Avenue told police on Nov. 6 that a co-worker harassed her by pushing her and grabbing her hair while she was working.
After consulting with an assistant principal at South Side Middle School, a Lakeview Avenue resident reported to police on Nov. 8 that someone wrote a harassing letter to his daughter.
Property damage
A Lincoln Avenue resident reported to police on Oct. 30 that someone damaged her 2006 Subaru while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 6.
An owner of Halperin Foot Wear on N. Village Avenue reported to police on Nov. 6 that someone damaged a store front glass window valued at approximately $1,000.
Lost property
A resident of Lenox Road told police on Oct. 29 that two license plates from her 2003 Chevrolet were lost while the car was parked near Autotech Collision.
Juvenile investigations
A Hendricksen Avenue resident told police on Nov. 5 that a sixth-grade student harassed her son at South Side Middle School.
An owner of Jenn’s Stationery on Brower Avenue reported to police on Nov. 5 that approximately a dozen teenagers entered her store, stole merchandise and then pushed her to cause a minor injury.
Fire
A visitor from New York City reported to police that someone burned his 2010 Ford while it was parked at Beverly Road and Hempstead Avenue on Oct. 28.
Unusual incidents
A resident of Rockaway Avenue reported to police on Nov. 2 that someone made purchases totaling $2,031.58 from her NEFCU checking account without authorization.
A Sherman Avenue resident told police on Nov. 4 that someone made purchases totaling $314.58 from her NEFCU checking account without authorization.
A Rockville Centre resident told police on Nov. 4 that someone made purchases totaling $99.97 from his NEFCU checking account without authorization.
